Our next stop happened to be in Barocco style. Napier is a town somehow lost in time. It is bursting with life, but has quite retro looks.

The locals value their history, one of the brightest event of which was the earthquake happened in 1931 that destroyed the whole city.

We’ve been guided through a theatre which is their pride due to its authenticity: it has the same looks (even the carpet is the same!) since the city rebuild after the earthquake.

Anton finds friends everywhere: this time he charmed our bus driver with his funny stories. The guy called Anton to sit next to him in front. As a consequence, the first rows were bursting with laughter thanks to his easy tongue and “family secrets” he was keen to share.

Our ride through gorgeous landscapes was fun 😉

The landmark we headed to was “Te Mata peak” (which I truly thought was “Tomato pick” and thought how interesting it would be to visit a tomato plantation – before I saw the road sign, haha).

After this beautiful stop we headed back to the ship.
