Wild life

As I said before, Darling Harbour is a great place full of activities. One of them is an indoor zoo (quite a small one, but I know there is another one at the other side of the harbour, so together they might present a large part of Australian fauna).

The greatest purposes of Aussie zoo’s are education and charity. The Australian fauna is unique and – in a great portion of it – dangerous. Kids are raised with notion of danger, but not fear: through their school time they obtain enough knowledge and practical tips on do’s and dont’s in case of… a vis-a-vis with a crocodile, for example.

It’s vacation time in Australia now and summer camp groups were seen in mass in Darling Harbour, here as well.

Australians are proud of their nature and care about it a lot. Environmental programs need support and thus, ticket prices include donations. In addition to that, a visitor can donate at any cash counter, be it a souvenir shop or a snack bar (in the city one can add a donation to almost any purchase in fact).

Another purpose of this zoo is orphanage. Babies and young animals are being saved  in an unfortunate event when their mothers are killed on the road.

For some extra money you can get an audience with koala’s. You get introduced (each koala has a name), get explanation about their habits and have all the time you need to experience their cuteness. Not that they would bother much anyway 😉
