Henning Island

Today we hired a dinghy to sail to so called Beautiful Beach all by ourselves. After a security and technical briefing, the adventure started enthusiastically.

We were to pass by one small island and reach the next one. That island is massively promoted for its beach – “the most popular in the region” (yeah, considering that there is only ONE beach on Hamilton island, you might expect something interesting from the “Beautiful Beach”) and snorkeling…

We disembarked quite easily and went on with discovery.

As the beach is full of corals and shells and Anton was not too happy to walk barefoot, I went on a mission to find out how easy the snorkeling is. I was left speechless with muddy water and the visibility close to zero. By the time I came back to the beach, Anton lost his appetite for snorkeling. But this was the least of our problems.

The above picture had changed drastically into:

😲 🤭

It goes without saying that it was pointless to try pushing the dinghy backwards to the water. It was simply too late for that. We called the hire guys for help. They picked us up in about half an hour and evacuated back to the port. The poor dinghy was left behind until the tide would come back in the evening.
