Spring in Australia – spring in my garden!
It was raining throughout the night and this morning I was amazed by the smell poured over our garden. So, I decided to write a blog post about plants blooming in spring in Sydney. I have not realized what plant produced that smell – it should’ve been a tree from a neighboring garden as no plant found in my garden could be associated with it.
First, Banksia – the tree our street is named after. There are banksias everywhere in Sydney’ suburbs:
The bird of paradise – also seen pretty often in this city. The orange one blooms literally throughout the year and is widely known, so I won’t post a picture of it, especially that there is no such plant in my garden (correction: there is one, but it’s hidden in the “jungle” and is currently not bearing flowers). But look: what we thought was a banana plant, finally showed its true face and turned to be a 3 meter high white bird of paradise:

The following ones I captured in Brisbane: the Trumpet tree:

I will start a photo hunt as of now as it is really fascinating. And most of the plants growing at streets are quite exotic to an European eye. Will update this post!
To be continued…
