The capital city met us with a gray sky and a bit of rain, so after having taken a photo of the new Parliament House on a sad background, we headed to the New Parliament House for the indoor exhibition.

The Parlament House is open for public, at no charge. There is a permanent exhibition dedicated to democracy and freedom.

Evelyn explained us the difference between the lower and higher chambers. That the lower chamber proposed and initially debates a bill and then it goes to the higher chamber for the final approval (or denial).
The green one is the lower chamber, where both sides of politics are present: the opposition and the government (if I’m not mistaken: I’m generally a profane in even basic politics ;-))

The red one is the higher one:

Our senator is thinking of better options for people ;-):

I tried to imprint the history of democracy in a video, although I’m afraid I did not succeed. Let it stay as it is; at least I have some memory of that nicely done carpet 😉

Then we headed to so called Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex: one of the only 3 NASA centers in the world, responsible for monitoring and communicating with the manned and unmanned spacecraft.

Again, at no charge, we discovered an interesting place. Their exhibition is quite small, but the atmosphere is great and you can observe the communication antennae repositioning.

Examples of space food (wondering what was created first: this or the Chinese noodles – both look ugly and both work the same way: just add water ;-))
Each of us tried the spacesuit on. Even might look exaggerating, I’ll post all pics for the sake of history 😉

Some iconic pictures I borrowed from the visitor center (I didn’t have a chance to catch such “position” ;-))

And, as “bye bye, vacation” hand wave, some road views:
