The Blue Mountains National Park is a great place to be. There are countless ways to explore mountains and this time we opted for the transportation means of Scenic World in Katoomba. They offer short and long walks with look-out points, reachable by rail and cable cars: quite a convenient solution for a family with a toddler.

The railway descends 310 metres through a cliff-side tunnel, emerging into ancient rainforest at the Jamison Valley floor. Originally it was the carriage used by mine workers for their everyday work.

The carriage brings passengers to the bottom quite quickly and the accompanying thrill is comparable to a serious roller-coaster. There is a roller-coaster in these woods, by the way – an old, abandoned one – just wondering how it came to someone’s mind to build a roller-coaster in such a place.
At the bottom, a choice of walk paths through the jungle and the mine remains is waiting for you.

Oh, and yes, Mountains, of course, how could I forget 😊

We came back to the station by the Cableway which is the steepest and largest aerial cable car in the Southern Hemisphere (545m long journey). No need to stress that it was overcrowded and it was quite tricky to make quality pictures. But the scenes are breathtaking, believe me ;-).

Then, after lunch (which costed us spectacular 50 bucks, but was not spectacular enough for a photo) we visited the Skyway.

Prior to stepping on, anyone could ring this bell:

The Skywalk brings you to a 1,4 km path with gorgeous views, but we stayed at the closest look-out point (Alan went a bit further, though) as by that time our tourists were like this:

So we enjoyed the last moments at the nature before heading back home.
